Location: Easingwold, York

Salary: £14.68 Hourly (restricted times) + Holiday Pay

Shift pattern: Minimum 24 hours. Sleeping nights and days.

Role Overview: A Female Support Worker is required due to a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR). 

We are looking for a passionate and professional Learning Disabilities Support Worker. Do you enjoy the challenge and rewards of a carer role?

You will be part of a team that provides crucial care to enable the service user live a full, varied and happy life. Providing a high standard of support in their own home. You'll promote independence and self confidence, enabling them to achieve their personal goals. You will provide vital care with a sensitive approach to a lady with learning difficulties, covering other health conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, PDA, Epilepsy and OCD.

You will receive full and detailed training in Buccal Midazolam for Epilepsy.

Your role will be pivotal in promoting independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

We pride ourselves on providing an ' arm around you ' support system.

The hourly rate is £14.68 between the hours of 7am and 10pm. There is a sleeping allowance of £70 for the hours of 10pm and 7am for sleeping night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to individuals with mental health conditions, both in residential settings and within the community.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Build trusting relationships with clients, offering emotional support and encouragement.
  • Support clients in developing coping strategies, life skills, and accessing community resources.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and other stakeholders to develop and implement personalised care plans.
  • Monitor and document client progress, reporting any concerns to senior staff or healthcare professionals.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all clients.

About You:

  • A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential.
  • Previous experience with supporting learning disabilities, autism and PDA is essential.
  • Any restraint training/violence prevention training qualifications are desirable but not required.
  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care or Mental Health (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) are an advantage.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic with a strong commitment to supporting individuals with mental health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with sensitivity.
  • A proactive and positive approach to supporting service users.
